Focused
on Philanthropic Support

Established in 1994, it seeks philanthropic support for the growth and success
of the Library.
Organized
for the Exclusive Benefit of the Lakewood Public Library

The Lakewood Public Library Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization
which operates for the exclusive benefit of the Lakewood Public Library.
It seeks financial support from corporations, foundations, individuals and
groups to enhance library collections, equipment, facilities and services.
Seven trustees serve without compensation on the foundation board. The Internal
Revenue Service recognizes the Lakewood Public Library Foundation as a 501(c)(3)
tax-exempt organization. Donations to the Lakewood Public Library Foundation
are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by the law.
Challenged
to transform Lakewood Public Library for the future

The Foundation is especially challenged by the information revolution and
the inevitable transformation of the Lakewood Public Library. It raises additional
funds to ensure that Lakewood's children and adults have access to learning
and knowledge through both electronic and traditional forms.
Committed
to the Development of an Endowment Fund

The Lakewood Public Library Foundation is also committed to the development
of a "savings account," an endowment fund which can produce unrestricted
income. The endowment fund helps to sustain Lakewood's tradition of free
public library service over the coming decades. The Lakewood Public Library
Foundation welcomes gifts and bequests that can be invested as part of its
endowment fund. For further information about making a gift or bequest, please
visit the Future Associates page or call
the Library Director at 216/226-8275.
